Foreign-trade SEO keyword research
Pick the wrong keywords and the rest of your SEO is wasted. Find the words buyers actually type.
The first step of SEO is keyword research: finding the words overseas buyers actually search — not the words you assume they use. Get this wrong and great content still gets no traffic.
Start from purchase intent
Buyers search to find a supplier or solve a problem. The pattern is usually product + role/intent: "LED flood light supplier", "industrial valve manufacturer", "custom packaging factory". These convert far better than bare product terms.
Mix three kinds of terms
- Head terms — high volume, high competition (e.g. led lighting). Long game.
- Market/use terms — narrowed by region or application (outdoor led lighting for north america).
- Long-tail — specific, low competition, high conversion (ip65 200w led flood light supplier). New sites should target these first.
Use a tool for real volume
Don't pick by gut. Use Google Keyword Planner (or similar) to see real monthly search volume and competition, and spend effort on terms that are both searched and winnable. Waimaoniu AI has built-in keyword discovery that returns real volumes to help you choose.
Avoid these traps
- Only your brand names/model numbers — buyers don't know you, so they don't search them.
- Only big head terms — too competitive for a new site to rank.
- Literal translation of local terms — say it the way native buyers actually search.
